Antique Victorian Burgundy Maroon Leather Jewellery Box Case Trinket Box By Boots Fancy Dept England. Lever Lock. Lady Gent Unisex.
Victorian 1837 – 1901
Would Make a GORGEOUS GIFT For Someone Special, with some Lovely Jewellery Inside!
A handsome antique Victorian burgundy, deep red wine colour leather jewellery box, made for Boots England. The box is quite large and a very practical size, even for today. The interior is lined with a gorgeous plush burgundy velvet, which is lovely and clean. It would have had a removable tray at one time, which is missing, but it makes the box deeper, so that it will hold more things. It was manufactured in Great Britain for Boots Fancy Department. Many people don’t realise that Boots the Chemist (the one on the high street today) was established more than 170 years ago, in 1849.
There is a lever lock, without a key, but the lock is in the open position. If somebody had a key, I am certain that it would still work. On the lock is stamped ‘Secure Lever, English Make’. The box has a silver coloured metal handle on top, for opening the lid, but it can’t be carried with this at present, with the box being unlocked. The leather is in fantastic condition. I have given it a clean and polish and it has come up beautifully – it looks even better in real life than in the photos. It’s in Wonderful Condition for around 130 years old.
Suitable for either a Lady or a Man.
Approximate Measurements: 8″ x 6″ x 2.75″
